P.E will be a fun and learning experience for your K5, 1st or 2nd grade child this year.  Mrs. Owings's full day K4 class will also have a scheduled P.E. time.  Classes will meet once a week and students will be involved in various activities and skill builders throughout the year.  Some areas we’ll be working on are:  throwing and catching, kicking, striking, parachute activities, rope jumping, loco motor movements (i.e. skipping, running, and galloping), various dances, balances, and coordination.  Students will be expected to dress in tennis shoes and shorts, pants, skorts, or capris for their P.E. class each week.  Parents are asked to send a doctor’s note if their child needs to be excused from participation at any time or if he/she is limited in physical activity for any reason.

PLEASE ENCOURAGE CHILDREN IN YOUR HOME TO EAT HEALTHY FOODS AND TO BE PHYSICALLY ACTIVE.

The  American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and orthopedic surgeons nationwide recently reported that childhood obesity is growing at an alarming rate.  Children, they say should get at least 35 to 60 minutes of walking or other exercise each day to build strong bones they’ll need later in life.  We have responsibility as adults to be good role models for our children to guide them in healthy lifestyles.

Would most children choose a candy bar or an apple as a snack?  We know the answer.  Its up to us to help them  make good , healthy decisions.

PLAN A DAILY FITNESS WALK OR ANOTHER TYPE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY.  THE RESULTS WILL BE REWARDING FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED.
